Designed by history fans, for history fans.

The concept of Liberty & Co. was hatched circa 2010 while I was living in Boston. I had moved there just to experience the city, it's history, and all it had to offer culturally.

It started as a few basic t-shirt design ideas like the Join or Die snake and the Bennington 76, but I never had the time to get anything off the ground. And the brand still didn't have an official name.

Fast forward 8 years to 2018. By then, crowdfunding platforms like Kickstarter and IndieGoGo had established themselves as a great way to ask fans to help fund the launch of your idea. I jumped in head first in June of that year with an campaign featuring 8 original t-shirt designs. The idea was to sell some shirts and give back some of the annual profit to local historical sites or organizations. That original 8 shirt designs was all Liberty & Co. was ever supposed to be, and nothing more but a rotating offering of t-shirts.

It turns out when you start selling shirts to customers who share your passion for history, they like to make suggestions like "hey this design would look great on a mug", etc., and I tended to agree with them. I began creating mugs, whiskey glasses, stickers, and a variety of other goods, even hand-poured scented candles themed on the American Revolution.

Over the next several years, that original line of 8 shirt designs would grown into an offering of over 600 SKUs, along with a brick and mortar retail shop in Old City, Philadelphia after an initial retail stint in Quakertown, PA.

Today, Liberty & Co. has reached history fans in every state and even internationally. We have added more in-person appearances to meet history fans where they are – at weekend events, reenactments, historical sites, and educational events such as conferences and seminars.

While the brand was built for the semiquincentennial in 2026, we plan on continuing on the brand far beyond, hopefully to 2031 at the very least to be able to celebrate each important anniverary of the American Revolution and founding period of the United States of America.

Until then, thanks for visiting, and if you see us at an event in the future, please stop and say hi!
