Formed in 1765 in opposition of the Stamp Act, the Daughters of Liberty were a group of women whose main duty was to ensure their fellow Patriots upheld the promise to boycott British goods. Sam Adams, famed leader of the Sons of Liberty, is believed to have said “With ladies on our side, we can make every Tory tremble.”
