Liberty Bell Shirt

The Liberty Bell is an iconic American symbol of independence, cast in 1752 for the Pennsylvania State House, now Independence Hall, in Philadelphia. Originally rung to summon lawmakers and mark public announcements, it became closely associated with the ideals of liberty and abolition in the 19th century. The Bell was transported on a wagon under cover of hay and dung from Philadelphia to Zion Reformed Church in Allentown, PA in 1777 after the defeat of Washington at the Battle of Brandywine and subsequent occupation of Philadelphia by the British Army. Its famous crack, worsened after attempts at repair, ended its ringing but solidified its status as a powerful emblem of freedom and the nation’s founding principles.
