Massachusetts became a state on February 6, 1788, when it ratified the United States Constitution, becoming the sixth state to join the Union. Previously, it had operated as the Province of Massachusetts Bay, a British colony, before declaring independence in 1776. Massachusetts played a pivotal role in the American Revolution, with events like the Boston Tea Party and the Battles of Lexington and Concord marking its significance in the fight for independence. Its state constitution, adopted in 1780, is the oldest functioning written constitution in the world.

This beautiful Massachusetts pennant featuring the Spirit of 76 "Yankee Doodle" painting by Archibald M. Willard is a perfect addition to any room decor!
